What Software Do I Need?

If you are trialing ez2view, then all the software and documentation you need can be downloaded from this page.

If you have all your own data and you don't need to get any data from us, then again, all the software and documentation is available on this page.

BUT...If you want to obtain AEMO or TNSP data from us then you will need our ez2update data feed. In this case you should install and configure ez2update before you install and configure ez2view. If you think you might need ez2update, then have a look at the ez2update downloads page.

Recent Releases

ez2view Version 4.1.202 - Released December, 2011

This is the current production version of ez2view.

In our last release (November 2011) we added new browser screens to allow you to drill into the detailed information for Constraint Sets and Constraint Equations. In this new release we have added two more browser screens – one for Stations and another for the Interconnectors.

On the Station Browser you can now see:

On the Interconnector Browser you can now see:

We have also made a number of other interesting enhancements to the product:

This release of ez2view displays new data elements and so ez2update (our data feed software) now delivers this additional data. This change to ez2update allows customers who do not have their own InfoServer database to receive all the new data, and to display it using this latest release of ez2view. You can obtain the upgrade to ez2update from the ez2update downloads page

For customers who make use of their own InfoServer, you will need to ensure that ez2view has read access to all the new database tables that it needs – the list is in the ez2view Installation Instructions available above.

ez2view Version 4.1.192 - Released 9 November, 2011

This release provides a big improvement in the way that you can use ez2view to understand what is going on in the NEM. We have added a second screen that works like a browser to display all the details of Constraint Equations and Constraint Sets. This second screen lets you navigate between different sets and equations without disturbing your dashboard view, which stays on the first screen. You can now quickly navigate through all the constraint details to discover which constraints are having the most impact on the market, and how long they are likely to last.

In combination with the constraints browser, we have also enhanced our schematics displays to include icons that show the state of each unit within each station. These indicators tell you whether each unit is running, and whether the unit is on the left hand side of a bound constraint equation. We have also added indicators onto the interconnector icons to indicate whether or not the interconnector is in a bound constraint equation. This gives you an instant view into which units and interconnectors are being affected by bound constraint equations. To make this even more useful we have also added a menu of bound constraints to the schematics tabs so that you can visually isolate the stations and interconnectors that are being affected by individual bound constraints.

This version of ez2view also addresses several issues present in earlier releases.

ez2view Version 4.1.174 - Released 12 October, 2011

This is a bug fix release that addresses the single problem below.

ez2view Version 4.1.173 - Released 09 September, 2011

Building on the Constraint Equation views introduced in the last release, this version of ez2view introduces a new display of Constraint Sets, and the schedule for invocation that the AEMO publish in the MMS table called GENCONSETINVOKE.

This enhancement allows you to better understand which constraints are coming along and to plan your responses accordingly. The display features:

This release also gives you even more control over the filters on the Constraint Equation displays by adding filters over the LHS terms. These LHS terms which are the ones that represent the network elements (such as units) that are affected by the constraint and are being controlled by the AEMO dispatch engine. You can now say things like “Show me all the constraint equations where my units are on the LHS” to find out which constraints affect one or more units. The MMS database uses Connection Point IDs for LHS terms, and ez2view allows you to filter constraint equations using these – but as well we have also included the ability for you to use DUID’s or Station IDs as shorthand for the Connection Points.

In addition, you can now also filter Constraint Equations based on the equations membership of a Constraint Set.

We have also updated the schematics view to add recently commissioned stations. The ones we have added are

This version of ez2view also addresses three issues from the previous release.

This version of ez2view has the following known issue, which will be resolved in a subsequent release.

ez2view Version 4.1.163 - Released 15 August, 2011

One of the most important aspects of the NEM is the application of Constraints by the NEMDE software - understanding which constraints are effecting the NEM is critical to understanding how the market is operating at any point in time. This release of ez2view adds screens that display, in real time, constraint equation data published by AEMO for every dispatch interval. The displays provide a unique and powerful view into the constraint data and include:

ez2view Version 4.0.114 - Released 4 May, 2011

In response to requests from many users, we have replaced the pie charts that were used to represent SCADA generation with trend charts that show the recent history for each station's generation. This enhancement allows you to better understand the context of the current SCADA generation figures. This feature supports configuration of the amount of history that is shown in the charts; the configuration parameters are in the file ez2viewAustralia.exe.config which is in the application install directory.

This version of ez2view also addresses two issues from the previous release.

ez2view Version 4.0.92 - Released 10 February, 2011

For trial licenses of ez2view, access to AEMO and TNSP data is now provided to you via a web database hosted by us. Getting started with the trial is as simple as installing the ez2view application on a PC that has normal internet access.

For licensed copies of ez2view you still gain access to the AEMO data either by connecting ez2view to your existing InfoServer database (MMS Version 4.1.15 or higher), or you can obtain data from us via our ez2update data feed. If you license TNSP data from us you will need to obtain this data via our ez2update data feed.

ez2view Version 4.0.62 - Released 25 November, 2010

This version of ez2view introduces displays for the new dispatch time generation data that is published by AEMO under Change Notice 791. This new data is implemented by AEMO in MMS version 4.1.15 as part of the AEMO "End of Year 2010 Wholesale Electricity Market Systems’ (MMS) Software Release". This new version of ez2view will run successfully on the previous MMS version, but you will need to implement the InfoServer upgrade in order to receive the new data from AEMO.

This version of ez2view also addresses two issues reported by customers.

This version of ez2view addresses all known issues from the pre-release version.

All configuration files for ez2view are now installed with the application rather than being downloaded from global-roam servers. This improves the reliability of the application.

ez2view is now provided in both MSI and EXE installers.
